What is FRC?
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition. Every year, teams of high school students, along with adult mentors, have six weeks to build and program a robot that can compete in a challenging field game.
The competition combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of science and technology. Teams must design, build, and program robots to compete in alliance-based matches where strategy, teamwork, and gracious professionalism are just as important as technical skills.
Our Mission
We aim to make learning STEM fun and accessible for those who lack educational opportunities and resources, in and out of robotics.
Our Community

Camber Robotics is about 20 students from Keystone School in San Antonio, Texas, meeting two to three times a week. We strive to build an inclusive team that encourages collaboration — our members come from Hispanic, LGBTQ+, and other backgrounds underrepresented in STEM. This year, our female and non-binary membership grew 500%, and we've had a woman as head coach every year since founding.
Our alumni go on to study at prestigious universities around the world, carrying the skills and mindset they built on Camber with them.
Our team includes people with a broad range of interests representing the next generation of many fields:

- Finance
- Data science
- Arts & humanities
- And more!
We're also partnered with Students FIRST, ND of FIRST, LGBTQ of FIRST, and Menstrual Equity of FIRST to encourage accessibility and equality within robotics.

Proudly Hosted by Keystone School
Camber Robotics is proudly hosted at and run by Keystone School, a small school on the south side of San Antonio, Texas. Keystone gives us the space to build, matches our fundraising dollar for dollar, and has backed us since our very first season working out of the corner of a middle-school classroom. We wouldn't exist without them.

Our Story

In 2023, a group of Keystone School students decided they wanted to create an FRC team to pursue their interests in engineering. That idea has since grown into today's Camber Robotics, which now embraces skills beyond STEM. In our rookie year, we had no mentors, little knowledge of FRC, and worked out of the corner of a middle-school classroom — and we've kept growing since. In 2025, we started FTC Team #31617 at our middle school, extending robotics to our youngest students. During the 2024 season we raised nearly $10,000 through FRC-related organizations and local businesses, matched by Keystone, and we raised over $10,000 again during the 2026 season. Our leadership runs SA Smart, a nonprofit for water conservation, and nearly all our eligible members are in National Honor Society (including one officer), with 4,000+ volunteer hours combined.

Our Outreach & Service

Fundraising
During the 2024 season, we raised nearly $10,000 through connecting with FRC-related organizations and local businesses, matched by Keystone. We raised over $10,000 again during the 2026 season.
Youth Programs
We host monthly robotics events at Landa Library for elementary-aged kids using kits like Dot and Dash, LEGO EV3, and VEX, run a twice-monthly Coding Collaborative class for K–8 students, and bring robot demonstrations to local events like Youth Code Jam. We also run an annual robotics summer camp for middle schoolers.
Community Impact
Our leadership runs SA Smart, a nonprofit for water conservation. Nearly all our eligible members are in National Honor Society (including one officer), with 4,000+ volunteer hours combined, and in 2025 we started and now mentor FTC Team #31617 at our middle school.
Technology Partner

Yet Another Software Suite
Yet Another Software Suite (YASS) supports Camber Robotics both as a financial sponsor and as a technology partner — we're one of its founding teams. YASS includes tools like Yet Another Generic Swerve Library (YAGSL), YAMS (Yet Another Mechanism System), and YAMG (Yet Another Mechanism Generator), all aiming to raise the floor for FRC teams by simplifying programming and improving hardware compatibility for those lacking resources or experience. We announced YAMS and YAMG together at the 2026 FRC Kickoff in San Antonio and presented again at the FIRST World Championship, sharing how to program with them easily and effectively.
