San Antonio didn’t just teach us about bumper inspection rules the hard way — it also made it painfully clear that our vision tracking wasn’t where it needed to be.
So that’s what we spent the week after the event fixing. Vision is one of those systems that looks simple in a demo and falls apart the moment lighting, camera angle, or target distance changes even slightly, and we ran into all three at various points during our matches. We went back through our camera mounting, retuned our pipeline, and rebuilt the logic that turns a detected target into something our drivetrain can actually act on reliably.
It’s not glamorous work, but it’s the kind of fix that pays off every single match. With Space City coming up, we wanted vision to be something we could trust instead of something we were just hoping would cooperate.
