Kickoff got the whole team fired up, and after a week of throwing ideas around, we landed on one: we want to build our own Big Dumper.
If you know the design, you know why we’re excited — it’s proven, well-documented, and exactly the kind of ambitious build that gets everyone on the team wanting to grab a wrench. The catch is that no two teams’ shops look the same, so step one isn’t just “build it,” it’s modifying the CAD to actually match the motors, gearboxes, and structural stock we have sitting in our shop right now instead of what the original design calls for.
That means this week has been less about building and more about digging through bins doing a full inventory, so we know exactly what we’re working with before we commit to a single cut. Not the most glamorous part of build season, but it’s the part that keeps us from ordering the wrong part twice.
Wish us luck — six weeks starts now.
